Cine caliente #3

The Hot Movies cycle of the Veranos de la Villa Festival, which began four years ago, invites the public to laugh out loud, make comments, applaud, deprecate or defend with scandalous enthusiasm what they’re seeing in front of them in a tip of the hat to Asia’s popular film culture.

Tonight’s commentator, or should we say, the person who’ll be interrupting the film every so often to alert us to details that are often overlooked in a film, is the couturier, designer and presenter of the TV series The Great Spanish Sewing Bee (Maestros de la costura), Lorenzo Caprile, who will be running a fine-tooth comb through Martin Scorsese’s 1993 film adaptation of Edith Wharton’s 1920 novel of the same name, The Age of Innocence, in which Gabriella Pescucci’s costumes perfectly evoke the repression of late 19th-century New York society, with all those tightly laced bodices, high necklines and skirts with bustles.

The musical accompaniment will be provided by Laura Put, the director, influencer, reporter, entrepreneur, social agitator... who has a session lined up that’s sure to be worthy of every frame of the film and every comment made about it.
