Antonio Najarro Company and the Orchestra of Extremadura

Antonio Najarro, director of the Spanish National Ballet until 2019, inaugurates the programme of the Veranos de la Villa Festival in the Central Courtyard of the Condeduque Centre for Contemporary Culture with his new show, Querencia, a journey through the interpretative and aesthetic beauty of the Bolera School, Stylised Dance, Traditional Dance and Flamenco, in which the costumes and all the accessories that accompany the interpretation of these styles, such as the Cordoban hats, the Manila shawls, the Spanish capes, the long-tailed Flamenco dresses and the instrument for which Najarro is best known, the castanets, work together with the company’s versatile dancers to enhance the beauty and the interpretative and aesthetic projection of our dance.

Accompanied on this occasion with live music composed by the pianist Moisés Sánchez by the Orchestra of Extremadura playing live under the baton of Andrés Salado, Najarro tackles his sixth production at the helm of his dance company with a desire to revisit his origins through his personal choreographic vision - and he does just that in style. A show made up by 11 scenes and with 16 dancers on stage, which reflects upon how people are inclined or tend to return to the place they grew up in or are accustomed to visiting.
