The Veranos de la Villa Festival is organising an evening at the San Isidro Secondary School so that we can enjoy two of the most popular artists on the neo-folk scene, Vicente Navarro and Rocío Guzmán, at what is a particularly interesting time for traditional music (and its external influences), given that there are so many new ways to understand it.

Vicente Navarro is a musician and actor from Madrid with a La Mancha background, whose music moves between Spanish folk, Latin American music, urban music and electronica. His 2019 debut album, Almost Land (Casi tierra), was very well received. Now in his latest album, The Hands (Las manos), he reflects on what we find and what we lose, and on how to express different ways of living with these emotions.

And if we care to imagine folk music made by machines, amidst the wild passion of the most traditional Andalusian rituals and a network of intravenous loops, there is only one possible name: Rocío Guzmán. Her first album, Well-known (Sonada), is an unpredictable offering in which the Andalusia singer offers us a popular songbook for robots that fuses rumba and electronica, lyrical singing, flamenco songs and soundscapes straight out of a sci-fi film.
